What is hemp oil and why is it simply awesome for healing tattoos?
I’ll start by saying that Hemp Seed oil has been used since the dawn of time in everything from textiles to medicines. The magic of hemp has to some extent been ‘hidden under the veil’ of secrecy all over the world due to the sensitive nature of this highly criticised miracle weed. I guess all good things are bad right?
One interesting observation is that Hemp Seed oil contains more naturally occurring essential fatty acids than any other plant derived oil and has a perfect 3:1 Omega6:Omega3 EFA ratio. So what does this all mean? Well it’s naturally emollient, moisturising, protective and soothing on tattooed skin. It promotes rapid cell recovery and is the perfect natural healing aid. There’s nothing new here you say? Well, true. As a derivative of marijuana, hemp has been used for millennia by people all over the world.
Hemp has a low THC content (approx 0.3%) and has been legalised by the European Union and the global economic market for low THC hemp use in medicines, papers and fabrics.
So what exactly is Hemp Seed Oil?
Hemp seed oil is the oil extracted from seeds of the Marijuana plant. I prefer Marijuana to Cannabis as Cannabis is the legal term whereas Marijuana is the natural term as mother nature intended. So it's also called hemp seed oil as it's derived solely from the seeds of the plant. For making the oil, tall growing varieties of marijuana are used and as mentioned earlier, hemp seed oil contains next to no THC which is the chief psychoactive compound in Marijuana. It is Hash oil or Marijuana oil that contains the high THC levels. So Hemp Seed oil and Hash or Marijuana oil should not be confused as the same thing. Hash oil is used extensively throughout the world for treating a huge array of illnesses. I know of several people personally who benefit enormously from this ‘alternative’ therapy. Some are pretty serious illnesses too.
Most of the health benefits of hemp seed oil come from its excellent ratio of omega -6 to omega – 3 which is very close to what the body requires for optimal health. Hemp seed oil provides powerful nutrition and can be used topically as well as internally. Though the unfortunate fact the Marijuana plant is STILL controversial after all these centuries in many countries really has led to significant masking of facts and data regarding hemp oil. Once again, it’s great that big Nanny just loves to keep us all safe from ourselves right? But best not to get me started on the Nanny states.
Most countries now have regulations in place to determine what deserves to be called hemp oil. There is also a lot of real stories you hear about the use of Hemp seed oil for treating cancers, arthritis, autoimmune disease and even AIDS. The fascinating stories are out there for everyone to discover which has escalated the popularity of Hemp Oil worldwide and is a growing phenomenon where now more and more people are finding out about this truly wonderful oil.
