Applying ZOOTATTOO® WRAP adhesive tattoo bandage is relatively simple once you have familiarised yourself with the instructions below. On difficult to reach and larger coverage areas you will likely need your artist or friend to help you apply and remove each application as required. Whilst this may seem cumbersome, it isn't difficult and the end result will definitely be worth the effort! It also demonstrates a professional approach to healing as ZOOTATTOO® WRAP is a medical grade product with equivalent products being widely used across the medical industry worldwide.

How to apply ZOOTATTOO® WRAP

First, let the tattoo bleed for approximately ten minutes then thoroughly clean it with ZOOTATTOO® WASH or a quality natural Castile soap.

Step 1.

If required, cut the film to size so that the coverage is 3-5 cm larger than the tattoo around the perimeter. Keep in mind ZOOTATTOO® WRAP can be overlapped very easily for larger tattoos. If applying tattoo balm or another cream before applying ZOOTATTOO® WRAP, do not apply on the non-tattooed skin around the outside edges of the tattoo as this will be the skin that the film adheres to so it should be kept free from oily substances.

The protective bandage film has three layers:

1. protective paper underside layer

2. protective plastic topside layer

3. bandage film middle layer

Step 2.

First, remove the protective paper underside layer (ZOOTATTOO® Wrap Logo side) at the perforation and apply this adhesive side to the tattoo with the skin or limb in a neutral position ensuring full coverage. Apply gentle pressure from the middle of the film outwards with your fingers to adhere the film and to minimise air pockets.

Step 3.

Next, remove the protective plastic topside layer at the perforation. Depending on fluid build-up, leave on for 8 – 24 hours then remove and gently wash the tattoo with ZOOTATTOO® Wash or a natural Castile soap and reapply a second application. Leave the second application on for 4 – 7 days. It is normal for blood and fluids to collect under the bandage. These fluids help to keep the tattoo hydrated and aid the healing process.

Tip 1: With a pair of scissors, you can round off the corners to help prevent the film from lifting once applied. This can help someone who is very active during the day, or participating in sports activities.

Tip 2: When covering a larger tattoo such as a full back piece, you will likely need to overlap multiple sheets of film to obtain full coverage. To do this you apply the first sheet to one corner of the tattoo, then adhere the edge of the second joining sheet to the first, and so on. When joining sheets, it's best to allow 2-3 cm overlap to ensure each sheet adheres well to the joining sheet.

Tip 3: Don't panic! As the film is transparent, you will see that the tattoo may look like a mash of body fluids and ink. This will in no way affect the outcome once you remove the film. So don't worry, it will look amazing at the end of the process!

How to remove ZOOTATTOO® WRAP

Step 1.

It is preferable to soak the film using ZOOTATTOO® WASH or a natural Castile soap so that the area is clean prior to removal and to help to loosen the adhesion. The film can be removed without soaking though it might be a slightly tight to the skin as you peel it up.

Step 2.

Gently peel the film back over itself avoiding pulling directly upwards. If ZOOTATTOO® WRAP is hard to peel from the skin, allow sufficient warm water to run over the film as you peel it off. The second application sometimes bonds to the skin more tightly as it is kept on longer. Rest assured, ZOOTATTOO® WRAP will not ''remove" or alter the tattoo's delicate lines or remove colouring.

Tip 1. Removal can be done while bathing to allow sufficient time for the adhesive to loosen from the warm soapy water.

Tip 2. Practice makes perfect. It might be worthwhile to first practice applying a small piece to some non tattooed skin. No doubt you'll be a pro by the second application!!

Use only as directed and do not apply to infected skin. Although rare, some people may be allergic to adhesives. If you are unsure whether you have an allergy, you may experience a slight burning sensation and general discomfort several hours after applying ZOOTATTOO® WRAP. In this case, discontinue use by removing the application and wipe down the tattoo with some ZOOTATTOO® WASH or a natural Castile soap. Discontinuing use due to an allergic reaction will not affect the outcome of the tattoo. For further information or assistance, contact us here>>
